South Region Stars' Floor (Poly) Hockey
Floor hockey (officially known a Poly Hockey) is adapted from the games of ice hockey and ringette. The South Region Stars hosts several teams at ability-appropriate levels ranging from beginner to high-level athletes. We look forward to another great season of practices, scrimmages, and tournaments beginning October 12!
Welcome to another year of Floor Hockey! After a very successful season last year, we look forward to another great season of practices, scrimmages, and tournaments! So floor hockey fans -- get ready to rumble on Wednesday, October 12 at Lincoln Center Elementary School, 357 9th Avenue North, South St. Paul. (This is a NEW location from previous years!)
Practice officially begins at 6:15 pm, BUT we ask that you arrive at 6 pm so that you are ready to begin on time. (Please note that the doors to the school won't open until 6 pm so that the floors can be cleaned before we play.)
Registration is now open for the 2016-17 Floor Hockey season. Don't forget -- each participant needs to fill out the Registration Form (COMPLETELY). If participating in the state tournament, there will be a $25 registration fee.
THE COMPLETED REGISTRATION FORM MUST BE RETURNED BY WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2. THIS ALLOWS TEAMS TO PRACTICE TOGETHER BEFORE THE AREA MEET! ATHLETES WILL NOT BE INCLUDED ON A TEAM ROSTER UNLESS THIS OCCURS.
Because we need to limit our mailing costs, all future information will be handed out at practices to those athletes that are signed up for the Floor Hockey Tournaments (or e-mailed, if an e-mail address is provided on the registration form).
In 2005, we ordered new jerseys for the Hockey Tournaments. Please wear your jersey for all scrimmages and Tournaments. If you do not have a jersey, you can borrow a jersey for the season. We will most likely not be ordering additional jerseys for purchase, as we would need to order at least 24 jerseys to obtain a reasonable price per jersey!
Let Marcie know ASAP if you want to borrow a jersey. She will need your size and will bring jerseys to practices to try on.

- Eligibility: Athletes cannot be allowed to practice or compete unless they have an up-to-date application and physical on file with Special Olympics of Minnesota.
- Check Conflicts: Please add the competition schedule to your calendar so that if you are planning a vacation, you can try to work around these dates. Keep in mind that athletes must compete at the area tournament in order to compete in the state competition.
- Remain on Site: If you are sending an athlete who is a beginner; requires one-on-one attention; or has a behavioral issue, the athlete must be accompanied by a responsible adult who is to remain with the athlete.
- Group Homes: Out of respect for all athletes who want to participant, we ask that you provide us with one Level 1 coach when bringing three or more athletes to practice and competition. We are required to document a specific ratio of athletes to coaches; if we can't meet our ratio, some athletes may not be able to participate.
